We're all about having fun!
When we play golf, we play for fun. Most of us are relaxed. In season, we play twice a month. As a member you have everyone else's contact info, so you can get up another round anytime you want. The calendar on this Web site will show you the outstanding and affordable courses we play.

Why Singles Golf Association?
In June of 1996, the Singles Golf Association, Inc. was incorporated with Maureen Brenner as President, Pat Thorson as VP Membership, Jay Swainbank as VP Events and Barbara O'Neal as Secretary. SGA began and continues with two purposes:

First. Bring together single adults golfers as a group to form a golfing organization starts with USGA rules and guidelines to promote a closer bond through activities. From this purpose, we have regular golf tournaments two times per month from March through October. We continuously maintain individual handicaps so foursomes are balanced. While we play for fun, each year we have a competition for Club Champions.

Second. We sought to support local, golf related charities with total contributions over $10,000.
  • 2007 Cash donations to North Texas Junior Golf and Susan G. Komen.
  • 2005 Cash donations to North Texas Junior Golf and to Susan G. Komen
  • 2005 Volunteer hours donated to ITIP Fund Raising Golf Tournament. The Infant and Toddler Intervention Program (ITIP) serves as a safety net for families with babies and toddlers who have disabilities or delays in development.
  • 2004 Cash donations to North Texas Junior Golf and to Susan G. Komen
  • 2004 Volunteer hours donated to ITIP Fund Raising Golf Tournament.
  • 2003 Cash donations to North Texas Junior Golf.
  • 2003 Volunteer hours donated to ITIP Fund Raising Golf Tournament.

As with all single organizations we have members leave, we get new members and then some return. Social events fill out the calendar as SGA'ers continue activities year-round.

Is golf all there is?
While most of us really, really, really like golf, we are also single. So we want to meet singles with similar interests. So first off, we basically split 50/50 between men and women. Some events may have more men and some more women, as events come and go. We realize it works best as 50/50, so we recruit to keep this balance. That also means when you go to play golf, the opposite sex is probably sitting beside you in your cart.

In addition to golf, SGA has the purpose of supporting local charity. We volunteer for charity golf events and we make an end-of-season contribution to a local charity.

We share dinners and look for other social events where singles with similar interests will want to participate. We are likely to do whatever a member champions, so come to a meeting and bring your ideas. A calendar of planned events is listed on this Web site. (The space at the bottom is to add your events, so come suggest them.)
